Rangopal Varma, who appeared for police interrogation...

Ongole: In the photo morphing case, director Ram Gopal Varma appeared for police interrogation. In this regard, he is being interrogated by CI Srikant Babu at the Ongole Rural Police Station. A case has been filed against him for morphing photos of Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh and posting them on social media. After the police issued notices for his appearance, Varma appeared for questioning at the Ongole Rural Police Station today. The interrogation is ongoing in the presence of a lawyer.

In November last year, a case was filed against Varma at the Maddipadu Police Station. Before the Assembly elections, TDP leaders filed a complaint about Varma morphing and posting photos of AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Lokesh. After registering the case, the police issued notices for his appearance for questioning. However, Varma was absent from the inquiry on November 19 and 25. Later, he went to the High Court and secured anticipatory bail to avoid arrest. The High Court, however, instructed Varma to cooperate with the police inquiry.

As part of the investigation, although the police had previously issued notices, Varma was absent from questioning. He sent a message via WhatsApp stating that he was busy with film shooting and would come on another day. He did not attend the inquiry without police permission. As the police prepared to arrest him, he went into hiding for some time. During this period, he filed a quash petition in the High Court, claiming that the police had filed the case illegally and unfairly and asked for the FIR to be dismissed. The High Court, which granted him bail, ordered him to cooperate with the police investigation.

Following this, the Ongole Rural Police issued another notice. Today, Varma appeared for questioning. For more updates, visit Vaartha - Andhra Pradesh.
